Typo?

Paragraph commencing "Mr. Weasley paled" seems to be missing a word.

Odd

It looks like the conversion program from .doc to .html hiccuped there. Thanks for letting me know.

There's one thing that

There's one thing that bothers me about this chapter (Fun and Games) every time I read it.
H&G were asleep for 3 hours before being woken up by the twins... Shouldn't Harry have transfigured the towel into Bun-bun before they went to sleep?

Well... yes

Sure he did. Why do you ask? Because the twins didn't comment on the bunny? I pictured Ginny leaving Bun-bun under the blankets in her hurry to react to the twins' appearance. Maybe I should have made that clearer.

How long does Bun-Bun last again?

Except that in that case, why did harry need to re-transfigure Bun-bun when they went back to bed? (Which is explicitly stated) I wouldn't have figured on them being gone that long.

Good question

I'm fairly certain that I've never specified how long Bun-bun lasts. We can infer from this chapter that he's good for about four hours, more or less. H/G were asleep for three hours, and then their excursion with the twins took some time. It is possible that I mistakenly gave some other timeframe during this first half of MoO1, in which case I'd appreciate it if someone could point that out to me.

i think

and don't quote me (i het in enough trouble giving quotes as it is) but you said 12 in one of the christmas chapters Questions, Quotations, and Quidditch or the one after

not that it really matters

It's in Resolutions actually...

Harry shows Bill Bun-bun:

'“Where’d you learn that, Harry?” Bill asked.

“I didn’t. I was messing around one day, and this just happened.” He avoided saying what he had been doing and why.

The long-haired man whistled appreciatively. “How long does it last?”

“About twelve hours, we think,” Harry said.'

Obviously I didn't have this figure in mind the first time I read Fun and Games, but the transfiguration of Bun-bun then did strike me as odd even then. The mention of 12 hours in Resolutions (and in Melkior's Mission: Impossible IIRC) only reinforced the oddity on re-reads.

Edit:
PS I re-checked M:I and the time frame is not specified, but the time of night is given as near sunrise which with a shorter lifespan on Bun-bun would mean a very late night for H&G ;-)

Mea Culpa

Okay, I admit that I had not specifically considered the duration in ch12 in relation to the duration in ch16. However, I did have a progression in mind, and those two implications (~4 hours in early November, ~12 hours in late December) are close enough to work with.
