I got a really cool Christmas present. "HGRHfan35" on SIYE created a picture for me to go with Lily's Child and I thought I'd share it with everyone. It's an animated GIF and you can find it at: http://s675.photobucket.com/albums/vv116/HGRHfan35/?action=view¤t=...

Nice!
Nice....
What I find somewhat amusing though is the advertisement on the left in the Products section, advertising animated Lily's Child mugs, T-shirts and playing cards... :-)

Cool picture! I really like
Cool picture! I really like that. Like the pose of Harry too. Interesting idea of Lily......
Get your now...
Haha! That's funny, "Lily's Child T-shirts". What will they think of next? :)
I really kind of liked who she picked for Lily, but then I remembered Mirando Otto (Eowyn in Lord of the Rings). So, I may get Mirando with red hair as Lily ... we'll see.

Eyes
Nice picture. Lily doesn't have green eyes, but it fits well with the story nonetheless.

Erm according to whom? It was stated many times throughout the books that Harry's green eyes were inherited from Lily...

It could work with the films. And for all intents and purposes, they are replacing the books. More people watch the movies then read. Radcliffe (Harry) is petite with blue eyes. Green eyes have nothing to do with him.

Are they really replacing the books? Give it a few years after the last one and the films will be consigned to the sideline where they belong whilst the books will continue to be read.

Sadly, I think it's true. Most people would rather watch a film then open a book. I promise you, most people have not read the books. But plenty more will have seen the films. What are classics anyway? To quote Mark Twain "A book which people praise and don't read". The new canon is Steve Kloves, not Ms Rawling. His vision of HP will not be so much about Harry's eyes, either. He has creative licence, and he's used it to the hilt. The same story told in a totally different way.

Actually in the posters for Half Blood Prince, Radcliffe is clearly wearing green contacts
Failure
Failure on my part. I'm wrong.
Of cabbages and Kings, and canon things

Do NOT even get me started on Kloves!
Oh, Kevin... I like the Lily's Child art work. Who is the person they used for Lily? Is it just a photo of some model, who I refer to as "Laminites" since they are used behind the laminate in store-bought photo frames, or someone we should know?

Haha! Laminites -- that's really funny! Yes, I was told it was a "nameless model". I also really want the hair to be a dark red, but apparently, when that's tried, it looks bad and stops looking like hair (or so the artist told me).
There will be a future scene where Harry is thinking about asking Ginny out and knows that people will compare his mother to Ginny, so he considers their similarities and differences. In there, he'll point out that his mother has dark red hair, almost a reddish auburn, while Ginny's is much lighter, more like bright reddish copper. Unfortunately, I'm not going to get a picture like that. :)
She did a second picture for me. I'll have to talk to Dino or someone about how to upload the 2 pics here.

A second picture for "Lily's Child"? I assume this is in addition to the picture she mentioned in her review of "The Accidental Bond" since you wouldn't be uploading that here ;-)
Any way around, I look forward to seeing all of them!
Movies
Speaking of the movies, has there ever been a clarification as to what spell the adult wizards use to fly around trailing mystical smoke? It isn't quick like apparation, it isn't a portkey, and they don't seem to be hiding broomsticks (anyplace comfortable, at least). Is it "instant canon?"

I believe that's the way the director chose to show Apparation. I think it was really a bad decision, but they didn't ask me. :)
To smoke or not to smoke?

That irritated me too. I think it was just an artistic choice on the part of the filmmakers. What really bugs me is when films can't even remain consistent with themselves, much less with others in the series. The Death Eaters show up trailing black smoke at the end of GoF, and travel that way during the battle of the Department of Mysteries at the end of OoP. Yet when Fred and George are shown apparating, they simply appear, with no smoke trail. It was probably done that way because it would look cool on screen. But why not the twins? Oh well.
Smokin' films
My first impression, upon seeing the smoke travel in GoF, was "WTF is that?" If it's supposed to be Apparition then you can't follow someone around. If "movie canon" is you can follow someone through Apparition then the movie Aurors are even more incompetent than those in the books. The Apparition scenes with Harry and Dumbledore in HBP are nothing like the smoke travel that appears in the same film, so...
Artistic license, yeah that's it! That's the ticket :-O
More on topic, I remember Jo saying she gave Lily red hair and green eyes because those were considered signs of being a witch. Personally: dark red hair, bright green eyes and a personality that lights up a room? Holy crap! I mean, I love my wife but, damn, that combination is HAWT!
Regarding similarities between Lily and Ginny, I can think of five off the bat. They are both female, they both have red hued hair, they are both witches, they were both in Gryffindor House while at Hogwarts and they both dated/married Potters. As far as personality, background, and intellect (not intelligence) Lily and Hermione have far more in common.
