parakletos's blog: La Mare Aux Canes ....

.... is where I am if you can find it in the map -home of the place Harry and Ginny stayed in 12Ms

I've been here for nearly a week and I think I'm begining to relax. No sign of any re-emergence of my muse despite several attemps.

Although it has been hard to get along with none of my normal home based 'crutches' around to help me, I think it's helped me take a few more steps forward. A few home comforts such as narrow band internet and a guitar have also helped.

    parakletos's blog: Sigh......

I haven't been around for a while, for good or ill.

Work has been very busy, very stressful and very tiring.
I also spend most of the day in pain, either from my chest, my arms, my legs or my back. Medical investigations are ongoing with the latest being an MRI scan at the end of the month.

Its been a very hard year.....

Mentally I am in better shape than I have been for a while, but I still have my moments.

Just thought you'd want to know. Or not, as the case maybe.

I'm in France from 17th to the 27th so hopefully that'll help.

parakletos's blog: Spreading like a badly made blamange.

I've just finished reading Harry Potter and the Magic of Merlin on SIYE. It’s unfinished with the latest chapter just the author's notes as he's now moved away from fan fic to original stuff.

Although well written, the story became less and less satisfying. Although it started out tightly focussed on Harry and Ginny and Merlin (better than it sounds, believe me), it soon spread like a badly made blamange into a cast of, well, too many to the point where Ginny, despite her bond with Harry and being Merlin's other apprentice received less page time than Hermione.

        parakletos's blog: An interesting day...

Yesterday I spent 13 hours at the hospital being prodded, poked, tested, questioned, poked again, tested again and questioned again. I had needles stuck in the back of my hand, in my arm and in my stomach. I was given tablets, unknown injections, injections of morphine and stuff to counter its side effects. Finally at 3am I was allowed home.

parakletos's blog: Go and Sin No More....

            Well, nearly.

I've decided not to post any more of 'Sins' at PS in light of some of the reviews I've received. Not the ones were people don't like it/not their cup of tea etc. but where they don't appear to get AU. So I'm going to carry on here in what I feel is a safer environment. My mental health is also a factor in my decision.

            parakletos's blog: Of This Cup

              Title: Of This Cup
              Author: parakletos
              Pairing: Harry/Ginny
              Rating: R (dark)
              Word Count: 2,354
Summary: When you no longer have to fight the monsters in front of you, how do you fight the ones inside you? Sometimes the road ahead is very troubled and very dark especially when the one you’ve asked to share it with you doesn’t really understand what’s going on.

Can't post it here yet but the above fic can be found here.

              parakletos's blog: Sins....

Bit by painful bit the second chapter inches towards completion. It currently stands at about 12,000 words and is currently going through the first part of beta.

One of the problems with writing a chapter over such a long period of time is that you begin to forget what happened previously. And worse than that, the expectations you have for the characters change. The story was conceived over two years ago and a lot has changed in that time.

I'm hoping that it will finally see the light of day before the end of the month, but don't hold me to that.

                x posted to LJ

                parakletos's blog: A Snow Day?

Yes, the schools are closed, the trains and buses aren't running.

Last time we had this much snow was 18 years ago. It only happens when the weather comes from Russia rather than from the Atlantic. We take no special precautions because, well it only happens every so often. So we have lots of people demanding that we are better prepared, but in reality no one minds.

                  parakletos's blog: Neverwhere

I've been listening to and reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.

Although its starts a little slowly once it gets going I've found it really enjoyable.

Under the streets of London there’s a place most people could never even dream of. A city of monsters and saints, murderers and angels, knights in armour and pale girls in black velvet. This is the city of the people who have fallen between the cracks.

parakletos's blog: Slow, slower, very slow...

So I've finished work for Christmas and I'm hoping to get some writing done between now and the 5th of Jan. I'm not sure if it'll happen, but if it does, it'll be Sins that gets the attention.

I find as my meds take hold, and my concentration worsens, I read a lot more rubbish when it comes to fan-fic. I did come across this story in my trawling arond The author doesn't have a beta and some of the spelling is terrible at times, but I think that there's some good writting in the chapters I've read to make it worthwhile coming back to it.
